About OOuba

In darkness, we find endless inspiration.

OOuba wasn’t born in a boardroom, created by a marketing team, or built around the latest fashion trend. It came from a lifetime of experiences, imagination, rebellion, and the need to create something of my own.

I’m a product of Generation X, born in Southern California in 1978. I grew up in a world before smartphones, social media, and the internet—when kids disappeared outside until the streetlights came on, music meant something, and individuality wasn’t measured in likes.

As a kid, I was curious, creative, and a little rebellious. I loved science, art, figuring out how things worked, and challenging what I was told. But life wasn’t always simple. Growing up in a broken home, I learned early that the world wasn’t necessarily fair, and finding my own direction was something I’d have to do for myself.

I found freedom in dirt bikes, skateboards, and music: punk rock, industrial, hip-hop—anything raw, aggressive, honest, or different. Music wasn’t just entertainment. It was an outlet. Art became another.

As I got older, I became fascinated with the darker side of creativity. Not darkness for the sake of being dark, but the mystery, emotion, beauty, and uncomfortable truths that often exist beneath the surface.

Life eventually took me in other directions.

I left home young, worked multiple jobs, started a family, and spent decades working with my hands—building, fabricating, and welding steel in some pretty unforgiving environments. Along the way came love, responsibility, loss, financial struggles, and experiences that changed how I looked at life.

Some of those experiences were harder than words can explain.

But through all of it, the music never stopped playing, and the imagination never went away.

Over time, I realized that the ideas, images, and emotions I’d carried around for decades needed somewhere to go. I wanted to turn frustration into creativity, darkness into something meaningful, and imagination into something real.

That’s where OOuba comes from.

OOuba is an independent clothing brand built on the belief that creativity shouldn’t have boundaries and individuality shouldn’t require permission.

Some designs are dark. Some are strange. Some are humorous, rebellious, or thought-provoking. Others are simple. They don’t all have to tell the same story, because neither does life.

I’m old-school in a lot of ways. I believe in hard work, honesty, loyalty, love, and standing behind what you create. But I also believe in questioning convention, refusing to be defined by your past, and never allowing age to decide when you’re finished growing.

OOuba is my way of putting a lifetime of imagination into motion.

It’s not about glorifying darkness. It’s about recognizing that even our hardest experiences can become a source of creativity.

And maybe someone out there will see a design and recognize a little of themselves in it.

Independent by nature. Creative by instinct. Rebellious by design.

Welcome to OOuba.
